Abstract
The growing world demand for energy and concerns about the environmental impacts of energy production has motivated research into alternative sources of energy. In this context, there are solar chimneys that are disposable that use solar radiation to generate a flow of heated air that can be used for the generation of electric energy for drying products. An experimental prototype, scale 1:50 with Manzanares, with 5m in diameter and 2,5m height is built in the city of Belo Horizonte / Brazil. Fundamental factors are evaluated in the functioning of the device such as ground waterproofing, adiabatic tower condition and radial symmetry in the collector. From the analysis of these three factors the functionality of the device is determined.
