 Title:
OBTENÇÃO DE LIGAS DE TITÂNIO POR METALURGIA DO PÓ

Summary :
ABSTRACT. THE METALLURGY OF THE TITANIUM AND ITS ALLOYS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED ALONG THE LAST 50 YEARS. TITANIUM IS A VERY LIGHT METAL WITH A VERY USEFUL RANGE OF MECHANICAL PROPERTIES, EXCEPTIONALLY HIGH CORROSION RESISTANCE AND CAN BE USED OVER A WIDE RANGE OF TEMPERATURES. DESPITE OF THEIR GREAT POTENTIAL, THE HIGH PRODUCTION COST OF TITANIUM BASED PARTS HAS LIMITED THEIR USE TO THE AEROSPACE AND CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES. IN THE LAST YEARS, NEW MANUFACTURING TECHNIQUES ("NEAR-NET SHAPE") TURNED THE MARKET OF THIS METAL MORE COMPETITIVE. THIS WAY, THE PRODUCTION OF TITANIUM ALLOYS BY POWDER METALLURGY, STARTING FROM THE ELEMENTARY OR PREALLOYED POWDERS, IS A VIABLE ROUTE DUE AT THE SMALLER COSTS, LARGER OPERATIONAL MEANS AND FOR ALLOWING THE PRODUCTION OF PARTS WITH COMPLEX GEOMETRY AND CLOSE TO THE FINAL DIMENSIONS. THIS WORK HAS FOR OBJECTIVE THE PRODUCTION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF TITANIUM ALLOYS OBTAINED BY POWDER METALLURGY AND TO DETERMINE WHICH THE INFLUENCE OF SOME PROCESS PARAMETERS (TEMPERATURE, PRESSING, HEATING RATE AND CHEMICAL COMPOSITION) IN THE FINAL ALLOY MICROSTRUTURE, SEEKING THEIR USE IN SEVERAL APPLICATIONS, SUCH AS, IN THE AEROSPACE PARTS AND HIP PROSTHESES.
