 Title:
STRESS CORROSION CRACKING UNDER CONSTANT LOAD OF THE AUSTENITIC STAINLESS STEEL IN CHLORIDES ENVIRONMENTAL

Summary :
ABSTRACT. ONE EVALUATED THE AISI 304 AUSTENITIC STAINLESS STEEL SUSCEPTIBILITY UNDER A CONSTANT LOAD STRESS CORROSION CRACKING EXPERIMENT, USING A TN-DCB SPECIMEN. THE ENVIRONMENT WAS A SOLUTION CONTAINING 1M HCL, PH AROUND ZERO AT THE CORROSION POTENTIAL. THE USE OF THIS LOWER PH WAS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE EXPERIMENT WAS CONDUCTED AT ROOM TEMPERATURE. THE ELECTROCHEMICAL SYSTEM WAS CHARACTERIZED THROUGH THE POTENTIODYNAMICS POLARIZATION TESTS AND THE CRACKED SPECIMENS WERE MICROGRAPHICALY ANALYZED USING A SCANNING ELECTRONIC MICROSCOPIC. WORDS-KEY: AUSTENITIC STAINLESS STEEL, STRESS CORROSION CRACKING, CHLORIDES
