PROCEDIMENTO PARA DIMINUIR E ESTIMAR ERROS DE DISCRETIZAÇÃO BASEADO EM SOLUÇÕES NUMÉRICAS COERENTES
 
Summary :
THE PROPOSED PROCEDURE IS BASED ON THE COMPARISON OF NUMERICAL SOLUTIONS OBTAINED ON THE SAME GRID BUT WITH LOW AND HIGH ORDER SCHEMES. THE HIGHER ORDER SOLUTION IS USED AS REFERENCE. THE RICHARDSON EXTRAPOLATION IS USED FOR DIMINISHING AND ESTIMATING DISCRETIZATION ERRORS WITH THE LOW ORDER SOLUTION. THE UNKNOWNS MAY BE LOCAL AND GLOBAL. THE PROCEDURE IS TESTED USING NUMERICAL SOLUTIONS OF MATHEMATICAL MODELS WITH ONE AND FOUR UNKNOWNS: ADVECTION-DIFFUSION EQUATION AND COMPRESSIBLE FLUID FLOWS. THE NUMERICAL SOLUTIONS WERE OBTAINED USING FINITE-VOLUME METHOD IN UNIDIMENSIONAL DOMAINS WITH UNIFORM GRIDS. THE PROCEDURE CORRECTLY WORKED IN ALL 500 TEST CASES THAT INCLUDED LARGE RANGE OF THE GRID PARAMETER, CONSTANT AND VARIABLE GRID REFINEMENT FACTOR, AND FOUR SCHEMES.
