| THE SEISMIC FACIES MAPPING USING A NEURAL NETWORK APPROACH BASED ON THE KOHONEN’S SELF-ORGANIZING FEATURES MAPS, SUPPLIED BY CGG-PETROSYSTEMS, HAS IMPROVED THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE SPATIAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN  TWO  PRODUCER RESERVOIRS OF AN OFFSHORE CAMPOS BASIN’S OIL FIELD IN RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL. THE SEISMIC FACIES  MAP SHOWED SUBTLE DISCONTINUITIES WHICH WERE NOT OBSERVED DURING THE CONVENTIONAL AMPLITUDE MAPPING. SUCH OBSERVED DISCONTINUITIES ARE SPECIAL WORTHY TO BUILD A MORE ACCURATE DYNAMIC MODEL. THE  MAP OF SEISMIC FACIES CONFIRMED THE DATA FROM PRODUCER WELL TESTS AND CONTRIBUTED TO A MORE REALISTIC GEOLOGICAL MODELING |
