ESTUDO EXPERIMENTAL DO DESGASTE DE DRESSADORES COM PERFIL DE ATUAÇÃO CONSTANTE

Summary :
ABSTRACT. THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THE GRINDING PROCESS IS TO OBTAIN HIGH QUALITY COMPONENTS REGARDING DIMENSIONAL TOLERANCES THROUGH THE MINIMIZATION OF GRINDING WHEEL VOLUMETRIC LOSE. THIS IS POSSIBLE BY THE USE OF GRINDING WHEELS WITH BETTER CAPACITY OF RETAINING THE ABRASIVE GRAINS. HOWEVER, AS THE OPERATION IS CARRIED OUT, THE GRINDING WHEEL BECOMES BLUNT. SINCE THE DRESSING OPERATION MODIFIES THE GRINDING WHEEL TOPOGRAPHY THE UNDERSTANDING OF THIS OPERATION IS FUNDAMENTAL FOR ITS PERFORMANCE CONTROL. THIS WORK EXPERIMENTALLY ANALYSES THE WEAR ON THREE DRESSING TOOLS SINTERED WITH A BRONZE BASED ALLOY CONTAINING MONOCRYSTALLINE SINTHETIC DIAMONDS. TWO METHODS OF MEASURING DIAMOND WEAR WERE PRESENTED AND A PARAMETER (ID) WAS CREATED TO EVALUATE IT. AS A CONCLUSION, THE PARAMETER CAN BE A RELIABLE ASSESMENT ON THE USEFUL LIFE OF THE DRESSING TOOL FOR CONSTANT DRESSING CONDITIONS. MOREOVER, THE EXPERIMENTAL TESTS SHOWED THAT THE PARAMETER HAS A DIRECT RELATION WITH THE NUMBER OF DIAMONDS ON THE DRESSING TOOL AND THE PROFILE DRESSING IS ESTABLISHED BY THE FIRST DIAMOND TO CONTACT THE GRINDING WHEEL SURFACE DURING THE DRESSING OPERATION. KEYWORDS: GRINDING, DRESSING, DIAMOND, WEAR.
