DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF PREDICTIVE TECHNIQUES TO CRACK PROPAGATION IN COMPOSITES USING THE DUAL BOUNDARY ELEMENT METHOD
 
Summary :
ABSTRACT. THIS WORK PRESENTS THE TSAI-HILL THEORY TO CRACK PROPAGATION IN ANISOTROPIC MATERIALS APPLIED IN A BOUNDARY ELEMENTS SOFTWARE. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE SOFTWARE IS TO COMPUTE THE CRACK PROPAGATION DIRECTION AND THE INTENSITY OF STRESS ACTING AND RESULTANT STRAINS IN PLATES OF LAMINAR COMPOSITE MATERIALS. THE NUMERICAL RESULTS OBTAINED WERE COMPARED WITH RESULTS OBTAINED USING THE THEORY OF THE MINIMUM STRAIN ENERGY DENSITY TO CRACK PROPAGATION TO VALIDATE THEM.
