 Title:
RESISTANCE FRACTURE OF LAMINATED COMPOSITE OF ALUMINUM WITH EPOXY RESIN REINFORCED BY GLASS FIBERS

Summary :
. THIS WORK STUDIED THE TOUGHNESS OF LAMINATED COMPOSITE OF COMMERCIAL ALUMINUM WITH EPOXY RESIN REINFORCED BY GLASS FIBERS, DEVELOPMENT IN THE COMPOSITE MATERIAL LABORATORY OF COPPE-UFRJ, USING KAUFMAN TEST, PURPOSE TO ALUMINUM PLATE, TO ALLOW THE RESISTANCE CRACK PROPAGATION IN THIS MATERIALS. THE RESULTS SHOWED A VALUE OF TEAR STRENGTH OF THE MATERIAL, OBTAINED BY A GRAPHIC OF THE TEST, WHERE IT WAS POSSIBLE TO DETERMINATE THE NECESSARY ENERGY TO START AND PROPAGATE THE CRACK IN THE SAMPLE. IN THIS WORK USED THE NECESSARY ENERGY TO INICIATE THE CRACK. THE VALUES IN MECHANICAL TESTS WERE COMPARED WITH THE RESULTS OF COMPOSITE GLARE 1 3/2. THE RESULTS SHOWED THAT THE LAMINATED COMPOSITE DEVELOPMENT IN THE LAB HAD THE FRACTURE RESISTANCE LOWER THAT COMPOSITE GLARE 1 3/2. KEY-WORDS: FRACTURE, TOUGHNESS, LAMINATED COMPOSITES.
