 Title:
PORE COLLAPSE STUDY THROUGH CAP MODEL ANALYSIS

Summary :
PORE COLLAPSE STUDY THROUGH CAP MODEL ANALYSIS SUMMARY. THE OCCURRENCE OF PORE COLLAPSE HAS BEEN VERIFIED IN HIGH POROSITY AND LOW PERMEABILITY CARBONATE RESERVOIRS. THE INCREASE IN EFFECTIVE STRESS DUE TO OIL RESERVOIR WITHDRAWAL MAY CAUSE REARRANGEMENT OF THE ROCK MATRIX, CHANGING THE ROCK GEOMETRY IF IT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SUPPORT IT. IN LITERATURE ARE PRESENTED CASES WHERE THE OCCURRENCE OF PORE COLLAPSE WERE VERIFIED, E.G., THE FIELDS OF EKOFISK AND DANIAN (NORTH SEA) AND AUSTIN (GOLF COAST). IN THE CASE OF EKOFISK FIELD THE SUBSIDENCE WAS SO SERIOUS THAT PROVOKED THE SETTLEMENT OF PRODUCTION FACILITIES. FOR THOSE FIELDS ROCK MECHANICS TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT IN LABORATORIES USING TRIAXIAL AND UNIAXIAL DEFORMATION TESTS, VERIFYING THE OCCURRENCE OF PORE COLLAPSE. HOWEVER THOSE METHODOLOGIES WERE NOT ABLE TO USE A DIFFERENT STRESS PATH THAN THAT FOLLOWED BY THE TEST. THIS WORK INTRODUCES THE CAP MODEL FOR STUDIES OF PORE COLLAPSE IN CARBONATES OF THE CAMPOS BASIN USING LABORATORY TESTS WITH DIFFERENT STRESS PATH. KEYWORDS: PORE COLLAPSE, CAP MODEL, STRESS PATH.
