 Title:
IMPLICIT NUMERICAL TREATMENT FOR APPLICATION OF A NON-LINEAR TURBULENCE MODEL USING BOUNDARY-FITTED COORDINATES

Summary :
ABSTRACT: THIS WORK PRESENTS A NOVEL NUMERICAL TREATMENT FOR APPLICATION OF A NON-LINEAR TURBULENCE MODEL THIS CLASS OF MODEL IS CAPABLE OF PREDICTING ANISOTROPY EFFECTS APPEARING IN CERTAIN TYPES OF FLOW. BASICALLY, THE MODEL CONSISTS IN AN EXTENSION OF THE STANDARD K-E THEORY HAVING ADDITIONAL NON-LINEAR TERMS FOR REPRESENTING THE STRESS-STRAIN RELATIONSHIP. TRANSPORT EQUATIONS FOR THE MEAN AND TURBULENT FIELDS ARE PRESENTED AND DISCRETIZED USING A GENERALIZED COORDINATE SYSTEM. DIFFUSION FLUXES, COMING FROM DISCRETIZING NON-LINEAR TERMS, ARE NUMERICALLY TREATED IN BOTH IMPLICIT AND EXPLICIT MANNERS. ULTIMATELY, ONE SEEKS IMPROVEMENTS ON THE NUMERICAL STABILITY OF THE ALGORITHM. PRELIMINARY RESULTS USING THE PROPOSED NUMERICAL TREATMENT ARE PRESENTED. KEY WORDS: TURBULENCE MODELING, NON-LINEAR MODEL, ANISOTROPY, GENERALIZED COORDINATES
