Summary :
THE PRESENT PAPER DISCUSSES THE USE OF INTERNET AS AN ACADEMIC RESOURCE TO MANY UNDERGRADUATED ENGINEERING COURSES. ANALYSING SOME OF THE ADVANTAGES AND ALSO SOME OF THE DISADVANTAGES, THE PAPER PRESENTS A CLEAR VIEW ON THE INFLUENCE OF SUCH RESOURCES AND THEIR APPLICATION TO CLASSROONS, EITHER FOR PRESENTIAL COURSES OR TO DISTANCE LEARNING. ALTHOUGH MANY OF THE POINTS UNDER DISCUSSION HAVE GENERAL OBJECTIVES, THE COMMENTS PRESENTED HEREIN ARE RELATED TO THE MEC 1340 UNDERGRAD COURSE IN HEAT TRANSFER, FROM THE MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT OF PUC-RIO, AFTER A TWO-YEAR EXPERIENCE PERIOD. FINALLY, AN EVALUTION OF THE ACADEMIC RESOURCES OF SOME OF THE INTERNET SERVICES IS PRESENTED, IN ORDER TO MOTIVATE OTHER FACULTY TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF SUCH MATERIAL OR EQUIVALENT AND OFFER THEM SOME ADVISE AND HELP KEY-WORDS: ENGINEERING LEARNING, INTERNET AND EDUCATION, ACADEMIC MATERIAL.
