 Title:
EFFECT OF THE STRAIN PATH IN THE STRAIN HARDENING OF THE STEEL AND BRASS DEFORMED IN TENSION AND TORSION

Summary :
THE MECHANICAL BEHAVIOR OF A METAL DEPENDS NOT ONLY OF THE PROCESS PARAMETERS, BUT ALSO ON THE STRAIN PATH. UNDER DEFORMATION CONDITIONS THAT RESULTS IN CHANGES IN THE STRAIN PATH, TRANSIENTS CAN OCCUR IN THE STRAIN-HARDENING RATE, LEADING TO SOFTENING OR HARDENING. DURING INDUSTRIAL PROCESSES CHANGES CAN OCCUR IN THE STRAIN PATH, SO IT IS INTERESTING TO STUDY THE PLASTIC FLOW IN THESE CONDITIONS. STRESS-STRAIN CURVES INVOLVING ABRUPT CHANGES IN THE STRAIN PATH ARE PRESENTED IN THIS PAPER. THESE CURVES ARE COMPARED WITH THOSE RESULTING FROM MONOTONIC TENSION AND TORSION TESTS. TWO MATERIALS WERE USED: LOW CARBON STEEL AND BRASS. DIFFERENT BEHAVIORS WERE OBSERVED ACCORDING TO THE TYPE OF DEFORMATION AND THE MATERIAL. KEY-WORDS: STRAIN PATH, TENSION, TORSION, MECHANICAL PROPERTIES
