 Title:
STUDY OF LIQUID CORE REDUCTION EFECT ON MICROSTRUCTURE AND SEGRAGATION OF PBSN THIN SLABS

Summary :
WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF FLAT PRODUCTS PRODUCTION PROCESSES THERE HAVE BEEN AN WORRY ABOUT THE FLEXIBILITY OF THE FACILITIES, THEIR COST REDUCTION AND FINAL QUALITY OF PRODUCTS. THE THIN SLABS CONTINUOS CASTING PROCESSES HAVE REACHED THESE GOALS. SOME AVAILABLE TECHNOLOGIES USE THE LIQUID CORE REDUCTION WHICH IS APPLIED IN THE FINAL STAGE OF SOLIDIFICATION PROCESS WITH THE AIM OF IMPROVING THE PRODUCT FINAL QUALITY, REFINING THE MICROSTRUCTURE AND REDUCING THE SEGREGATION IN CENTRAL LINE OF THE SLABS. IN THIS WORK IT WILL BE SHOWN AN ANALYSE OF THE LIQUID CORE REDUCTION ON THE PBSN SLABS USING A SPECIAL DESIGNED SIMULATOR. SLABS WITH FIXED FINAL THICKNESS AND DIFFERENT REDUCTIONS RATES WERE STUDIED AND THEIR RESULTS COMPARED. THESE RESULTS ARE THE FIRST TESTS CARRIED OUT WITH THE SIMULATOR.
