 Title:
COMPLEX MODES SELECTION CRITERIA APPLIED TO THE GENERALIZED MODAL SYNTHESIS METHOD - PART II : EXPERIMENTAL TESTING

Summary :
IN THE MODAL SYNTHESIS METHODS, THE QUANTITATIVE AND QUALITATIVE INDICATION OF SUBSTRUCTURES MODES THAT ARE INSIDE THE ANALYSIS RANGE IS VERY IMPORTANT TO THE IDENTIFICATION PROCESS. SINCE THE PROCESS IS MADE ARBITRARILY BY THE USER, SOME MODES OF A SUBSTRUCTURE CAN BE CHOSEN UNSUITABLE. IN A PREVIOUS WORK, THE AUTHORS DEVELOPED A TECHNIQUE OF GENERALIZED MODAL SYNTHESIS APPLIED TO NON CONSERVATIVE SYSTEMS, USING A RESIDUAL FLEXIBILITY MODAL SUPERSET. THIS METHOD IS USED MORE FREQUENTLY FOR EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS AND UTILIZE A OPTIMIZED PROCESS OF REASSEMBLING OF SUBSTRUCTURES. MOREOVER, A COMPLEX MODES ELIMINATION CRITERION WAS PROPOSED IN ORDER TO CHOOSE A MODAL BASE SUITABLE FOR THE SYNTHESIS PROCESS. THESE TECHNIQUES WERE FIRST EVALUATE BY A NUMERICAL EXAMPLE. IN THIS WORK EACH METHOD PREVIOUSLY DEVELOPED IS SUMMARIZED, AND EVALUATED USING AN EXPERIMENTAL MODEL, COMPOSED OF STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS, SIMULATING, IN A REDUCED SCALE, A SCHEMATIC MODEL OF A WING+FUEL TANK MOCK-UP STRUCTURE. KEYWORDS: MODAL SYNTHESIS, MODAL SUPERSET, RESIDUAL FLEXIBILITY, IDENTIFICATION, EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS.
