AN EFFICIENCY PARAMETER BETWEEN THE RADIAL BLADES IMPELLER AND THE PITCHED BLADED TURBINE
 
Summary :
ABSTRACT: AGITATION AND LIQUID MIXING IS AN IMPORTANT TOPIC IN UNIT OPERATIONS, HAVING HUGE APPLICATION IN MOST BRANCHES OF INDUSTRY. THE MAJOR ROLE IN THIS CONTEXT IS THE IMPELLER AND ITS OPERATIONAL CONDITIONS. AMONG THE SEVERAL TYPES OF IMPELLERS, TEST RUNS WERE CARRIED OUT USING THE IMPELLER WITH FOUR RADIAL BLADES AT AN ANGLE OF 90°, MOUNTED WITH A STATOR, AND ALSO USING A PITCHED BLADED TURBINE WITH FOUR FLAT BLADES AT AN ANGLE OF 45°. AT THE MIXING EXPERIMENTS, IT WAS PREPARED A SUGAR SYRUP WITH TAP WATER AT A CONCENTRATION OF 40° BRIX, WITH THE RADIAL IMPELLER AND WITH THE TURBINE. BY ANALISING THE DATA, IT HAS BEEN PROVED AT THE MIXING EXPERIMENTS, USING THE DATA OF POWER AND CONCENTRATION VERSUS TIME, THAT THE BEST RESULTS WERE OBTAINED WITH THE USE OF THE TURBINE.
