LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE BRAZILIAN SOCIETY OF ENGINEERING
AND MECHANICAL SCIENCES (ABCM)
The Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering - ABCM
is making a great effort to increase the participation of its members
in the activities it promotes. When you think about how participation
takes place you observe that members participate both as recipients
of other members' efforts or by directly making things happen. Members
make things happen when they organize congresses, edit journals, review
papers, teach courses…, and in this way attend other members'
needs of having congresses to attend, proceedings to consult, journals
to which submit papers, courses to refresh or expand knowledge…
Accordingly, the 17th edition of COBEM - International Congress of
Mechanical Engineering, the major scientific congress in the area,
held in Latin America, is brought to you through the collective effort
and participation of many people led by the Polytechnic School of
University of São Paulo and the Research Technological Institute
of the State of São Paulo, IPT.
In our turn, let's participate of COBEM by taking the utmost advantage
of the many opportunities this unique event offers! And make a point
to accompany the activities connected to the thematic motivation of
this congress - Engineering and Society, which will explore the many
aspects involving the relevance of Engineering in our Society.
It is this participation in several fronts and levels that allows
ABCM to fulfill its commitment to the development of Mechanical Sciences
and Engineering. For the member who participates, in a way or another,
the participation makes up an effective opportunity for technical
development and personal growth.
