Abstract
The popularization of clear aligners as an aesthetic and comfortable alternative to fixed orthodontic appliances has stimulated research into their biomechanics. This study aims to evaluate the biomechanical behavior of these devices, particularly the influence of attachment shapes (rectangular, horizontal, and square). This paper presents the initial development of a Finite Element Model (FEM) simulating a biprotrusion case treated with premolar extractions to assess dental space closure. A three-dimensional model was developed with three attachment shapes (rectangular, horizontal, and square) to analyze, using the Finite Element Method (FEM), tooth displacements, force distribution, and stress in the periodontal ligament. Preliminary results suggest that attachment shape significantly influences the predictability of tooth movements. This study contributes to the optimization of clinical protocols involving clear aligners.
