Abstract
Queueing models are widely used in Mechanical Engineering applications, particularly for analyzing systems subject to high variability in service demand. This work presents the development of a discrete-event simulator for performance analysis of systems modeled by queues, with an initial focus on Markovian models. The simulation was implemented in the R programming language, offering an efficient and flexible environment. The performance metrics analyzed include traffic intensity (ρ), average queue length (Lq), and average waiting time in the system (Wq). Simulated results were compared with known analytical values, showing good agreement and validating the proposed simulator. The main contribution lies in the versatility of the tool, which can be easily adapted to model more complex and non-Markovian systems, for which no analytical solutions exist. The ability to incorporate new performance metrics and queue structures further extends its applicability
