Abstract
This article’s main objective is to present a metal particle sensor, developed at the Structural Mechanics Laboratory (LMEst). The central focus of the sensor lies in its ability to detect metallic particles present in the lubricating oil, especially in machines that use hydrodynamic bearings. Early and efficient detection of these particles is essential to identify and mitigate potential failures that could compromise the performance and durability of this equipment. Therefore, this study aims not only to present the sensor itself, but also to highlight its relevance in the context of predictive maintenance and the search for maximizing the operational efficiency and lifespan of industrial machines.
