Abstract
The characterization of performance plays a crucial role in analyzing energy efficiency measures. For pumping systems that commonly use the series/parallel configuration, finding the best operating setup represents a significant gain in reducing energy consumption. This study proposes the development of a global computational model using the Neuro-Fuzzy technique for performance characterization, aiming to locate the Point of Maximum Energy Efficiency and, consequently, rationalize the energy consumption of pumping systems. The method was applied to a system consisting of an automated pump set controlled by an intelligent Neuro-Fuzzy controller, whose function is to maintain service pressures at set-points through CMB rotation control. To develop a training and validation database and model the system, tests were conducted throughout the operating range. The modeling results demonstrate the system's efficiency characterization capability using sample data, showing satisfactory adjustments across the entire operating range. Furthermore, model analysis revealed regions where the system can operate with up to 305% higher efficiency compared to scenarios with maximum CMB capacity.
