Abstract
3D printing is a technology that has expanded considerably in recent years, but for large-scale printing it has some limitations, especially with regard to the cost of equipment. Therefore, this work proposed the development of a large printer, with a printing capacity of 1.5 m in the length, width and height directions and with low manufacturing cost. To carry out this project, the technological basis for 3D printing were studied in order to define the best project. Basically, the possibility of a dimensional expansion of a conventional 3D printer was thought of and how its mechanical parts would be developed, such as: heating tables, extrusion system and movement mechanisms. Based on the project, a large printer was manufactured, which was financed with funds from the Secretariat for Professional and Technological Education (SETEC) of the Ministry of Education (MEC). Tests were carried out and demonstrated that the printer was capable of printing large volume parts and it is estimated that the table cost about 1/3 of the value of a large printer on the market.
