Abstract
Heat exchangers are intended to increase heat transfer between fluids, making thermal processes more efficient and reducing energy demand. The purpose of heat exchangers is to allow the exchange of heat between two fluids (hot and cold), this exchange can take place through an isolated environment, without mixing the fluids. This study aims to analyze the heat transfer that occurs inside shell-tube heat exchangers with baffles, verifying their efficiency through models proposed by the second law of thermodynamics. To carry out this work, the influence of baffles as an increase in the contact surface between the fluid and the hot surface will be analyzed, thus allowing an increase in the exchange efficiency. This occurs due to the channeling of flows or its disturbance, this analysis will be the object of study in this work. To carry out this study, numerical simulations will be performed using SolidWorks and ANSYS Fluent. The turbulence model used was the k−
