Abstract
The cutting parameters setting is one of the most arduous tasks in the drilling process, as it can influence tool life, machining surface quality, cost and several other responses that can be analyzed. The cutting temperature is one of these responses that must be considered when defining the cutting parameters, because, although it does not affect the productivity of the process, it impacts the quality of the machined surface, for example. Thus, observing the temperature behavior without impacting productivity is a gap in the drilling process. To contribute to this issue, this work compared the variation of cutting speed or rotation in the drilling of aluminum alloy 7075 using the finite element method (FEM). The numerical experiments indicated that there is not a high difference in the cutting temperature when the material removal rate is maintained
