Abstract
Rotating machines work at high speeds and generally, in extreme conditions. Having said that, know dynamic behavior of these machines is essential to provide reliable data for operations and product development. A rotating machine consists of a rotor, support structure and bearings. Among the various types of bearings, hydrodynamic bearings stand out. They provide dynamic parameters that are necessary to dampen vibrations and enable the passage through critical frequencies. However, as a disadvantage, due to the hydrodynamic characteristic, they are bearings that presents stiffness and cross damping, a fact that can cause instabilities to the system. With the objective of studying the behavior of rotors supported by hydrodynamic bearings, this work presents the mathematical modeling of two rotor models by the finite element method with 12 degrees of freedom while dynamic parameters are added to the model. Campbell diagram, frequency response and unbalance response are obtained. The simulation results obtained are compared with the results of works available in the literature.
