Abstract
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) was used to simulate drying behavior of a two-dimensional fixed-bed corn dryer. Mathematical model was validated through comparison with experimental data present in literature and it was solved using ANSYS Fluent 18.0 software. Additional tool User-Defined Function (UDF), writing in C language, was used to customize the software, allowing to insert a more complete drying model. The percentage error (ER%) between the numerical and experimental results for one-dimensional model varied between 5.44% and 12.46%, demonstrating a good prediction of drying corn grains. For two-dimensional model, the maximum value for relative percentage standard deviation (DPR%) between a numerical simulation of proposed model and as simulations by França et al. (1994) and Souza (1996) was 9.39%, also demonstrating a good prediction.
