Abstract
i-caloric cooling systems, in solid state, are under research for some decades, however, they did not achieve a thermodynamic performance as good as conventional vapor-compression cooling system. At the same time, environmental policies related to harmful refrigerants are still growing. In addition, recently it was discovered high barocaloric effects in elastomers, which are an order higher than conventional magnetocaloric effect found in state-of-the-art magnetocaloric materials, but their proprieties and applicability are not deeply studied. In this context, this work aims the implementation of a mathematical method to predict thermophysical and caloric properties of elastomers with high barocaloric effect from experimental data of the adiabatic temperature change, which is a parameter that characterizes the i-caloric effect. Initially, it was obtained results for the specific heat and the temperature-entropy diagram (T-s), as a function of the applied pressure and temperature, for the vulcanized natural rubber. Such data are fundamental to be implemented in mathematical models developed to simulate the thermodynamic performance of barocaloric cooling systems.
