Abstract
The bronze-aluminum-nickel alloys have machinability of 20 to 40% compared to the free machining brass, so that the cutting parameters of these alloys may differ significantly from those used for other copper alloys and the absence of contamination by cutting fluids allows a higher value in the sale of the chips, encouraging the use of machining without refrigeration. In this work, the behavior of the CuAl10Ni5Fe5 bronze-aluminum-nickel alloy machining with carbide insert at different cutting speeds without the use of cutting fluid (coolant) was evaluated. The results showed lower value and greater stability of the surface roughness in conditions of higher cutting speeds.
