A PROCEDURE FOR NUMERICAL SOLUTION OF LINEAR OPTIMAL CONTROL PROBLEMS WITH MIXED CONSTRAINTS AND CONTROL INEQUALITIES BASED ON STATE QUADRATIC APPROXIMATIONS IS PRESENTED. THE PROBLEM STUDIED APPLIES TO OPTIMAL ECONOMIC PLANNING. TO CONFORM THE MANIPULATED PROBLEM TO LINEAR PROGRAMMING PRESERVING THE SUB-OPTIMALITY FEATURE OF NUMERICAL SOLUTIONS, A SUFICIENT CRITERION TO PRESERVE POSITIVITY OF QUADRATIC FUNCTIONS WAS USED. RESULTS INDICATE A SUPERIORITY OF THE PROPOSED METHOD COMPARED WITH A PREVIOUS ONE BASED ON LINEAR APPROXIMATIONS. |
