PERFORMANCE OF A TWO-PHASE THERMOSYPHON OPERATING AT OPTIMAL ANGLE – EXPERIMENTAL STUDY

ABSTRACT. A EXPERIMENTAL STUDY IS DEVELOPED TO OBTAIN THE PERFORMANCE OF A CYLINDRICAL TWO-PHASE CLOSED THERMOSYPHON, OF THE TYPE CU-R113, OPERATING AT A OPTIMAL INCLINATION, THAT IS PREVIOUSLY DETERMINED BY A EXPERIMENTAL STUDY. FOUR OPERATING TEMPERATURES ARE INVESTIGATED (60, 70, 80 E 90 ºC) AND THE POWER SUPPLIED AT THE EVAPORATOR IS BETWEEN 600 AND 2200 W. THE CONDENSER AND EVAPORATOR THERMAL PERFORMANCE ARE ANALYZED BY THE EVALUATION OF THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS ON THE CONDENSER AND EVAPORATOR AS FUNCTION OF THE THERMAL POWER. FINALLY, THE GLOBAL PERFORMANCE OF THE THERMOSYPHON IS ANALYZED BY THE EVALUATION OF THE GLOBAL THERMAL RESISTANCE.
