WE PRESENT A METHOD FOR THE SIMULATION OF CONVECTION AND DIFFUSION OF THE VORTICITY GENERATED ON THE BODY SURFACE. THIS SIMULATION USES A PURELY LAGRANGIAN SCHEME FOR THE VORTICITY CONVECTION, AND THEREBY AVOIDS MESH ASSOCIATED PROBLEMS. THE BODY SURFACE IS SIMULATED BY STRAIGHT LINE ELEMENTS, WITH CONSTANT-STRENGTH VORTEX DISTRIBUTION. A PRIMARY DIFFUSION PROCESS REPLACES THIS VORTICITY BY LAMB VORTICES LACATED NEARBY THE BODY SURFACE. THE STRENGTH OF THE DISCRETE VORTICES IS OBTAINED DIRECTLY WITHOUT RUNNING OVER ADDITIONAL CALCULATION. THE DIFFUSION PROCESS OF THE VORTICITY IS SIMULATED USING THE RANDON WALK METHOD. THE FLOWS OVER A CIRCULAR CYLINDER AND A NACA 0012 AEROFOIL ARE CONSIDERED AND THE RESULTS ARE COMPARED WITH NUMERICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS AVAILABLE IN THE LITERATURE, YELDING GOOD AGREEMENT. |
