INVISCID-VISCOUS INTERACTION IN FLOW ANALYSIS OF AIRFOIL CASCADES OF AXIAL TURBOMACHINERY

THE PRESENT WORK DEVELOPS A NUMERICAL METHODOLOGY OF FLOW ANALYSIS IN AIRFOIL CASCADES WHOSE APPLICATION IS IN THE AXIAL TURBOMACHINERY DESIGN. THE METHOD CONSISTS OF AN INTERACTION BETWEEN TWO COMPUTACIONAL MODELS: THE POTENCIAL (WITHOUT VISCOUS EFFECT) AND THE BOUNDARY LAYER, OBTAINING RESULTS NEARER THE EXPERIMENTAL DATA AND WITH LOW COMPUTACIONAL COST. THE PRESSURE DISTRIBUITION CALCULATED IN THE POTENCIAL CODE IS USED AS INPUT TO THE BOUNDARY LAYER CODE. THE DISPLACEMENT THICKNESS OF THE BOUNDARY LAYER CALCULATED IN BOUNDARY LAYER CODE IS USED TO PROMOTE A "TRANSPIRATION" ON THE AIRFOIL SURFACE WITH OBJECTIVE OF SIMULATING THE PRESENCE OF THE BOUNDARY LAYER. THE "TRANSPIRATION" IS CALCULATED THROUGH AND THE IMPLEMENTATION IS REALIZED THROUGH THE SUBSTITUTION OF IMPERMEABILITY CONDITION FOR THE EXISTENCE OF NORMAL VELOCITY ON THE AIRFOIL SURFACE.
