DESIGN TECHNOLOGY OF HIGH PRECISION HYDROSTATIC SPINDLE USING CERAMICS AND POLYMERIC CONCRETE
ABSTRACT. THE PRESENT WORK IS ADDRESSED TO THE DESIGN OF HIGH PRECISION MACHINE TOOLS, SEEKING THE REDUCTION OF PRODUCTION COSTS AND THE INCREASE OF THE QUALITY AND PRECISION OF THE PRODUCTS. A DESIGN METHODOLOGY IS INTRODUCED TO CONTEMPLATE THE ESSENTIAL POINTS OF A HIGH PRECISION SPINDLE DESIGN FROM THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE GOALS UP TO THE DELIVERY OF THE FINAL DESIGN, AND TO WORK OUT AS A REFERENCE CAPABLE TO COVER THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF AN ENGINEERING DECISION ABLE TO HELP THE DESIGN ENGINEER TO ORGANISE HIMSELF ON THE TASK OF SELECTION OF THE BETTER SOLUTIONS FOR HIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM AND CONTEXT. IN ADDITION, A CASE STUDY OF A HIGH PERFORMANCE SPINDLE DESIGN INCORPORATING HYDROSTATIC BEARINGS IN ADVANCED CERAMIC (ALUMINA) AND STRUCTURE IN POLYMERIC CONCRETE IS SHOWN, WHICH WAS DEVELOPED ACCORDING TO AN INNOVATIVE METHOD ESTABLISHED IN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE-OF-ART IN DESIGN OF HIGH AND ULTRA PRECISION SPINDLES AND ITS COMPONENTS.
