IN THIS PAPER, THE EFFECT OF A PASSIVE CONTROL MECHANISM TO MITIGATE THE TRANSVERSAL VIBRATIONS IN A CONCRETE BRIDGE BEAM DUE TO VEHICLE TRAFFIC IS SHOWN. THE MECHANISM USED IS FORMED FOR PRESTRESSED STEEL TENDONS WITH A CENTRAL POST AND A RECTANGULAR PLATE OF VISCOELASTIC MATERIAL. THE MODELING OF THE PRIMARY STRUCTURE AND ITS ASSOCIATION WITH THE PASSIVE CONTROL MECHANISM IS REALIZED THROUGH FINITE ELEMENT METHOD TO BEAMS AND THE ACTION OF THE VEHICLES IS REPRESENTED FOR A IMPULSIVE LOAD JUMPING ON THE NODES OF THE BRIDGE BEAM WITH CONSTANT VELOCITY. THE RESULTS, SHOWN THE RESPONSE OF THE SYSTEM TO THE DYNAMIC LOADING, WHERE CAN BE VERIFY THE EFFECTS OF THE MECHANISM AND THE DAMPER TO THE CONTROL.
