Dr. Manish K. Tiwari received his PhD from University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in Mechanical Engineering in 2009. Currently, Dr. Tiwari is a group leader and senior scientist in the Laboratory of Thermodynamic in Emerging Technologies in ETH Zurich, which is directed by Prof. Dimos Poulikakos. His research interests lie in understanding the fluid physics and materials involved in various interfacial phenomena and related energy technologies. He has looked at problems involving hydrodynamics of nanoparticle dispersions, wettability and icing behavior of nanostructured surfaces, thermofluidics of water cooled electronics and energy aware computing, and nanowire synthesis and bottom up assembly for thermoelectric energy harvesting. He has been co-advising 9 doctoral students during his last three years of stay at ETH Zurich, two of whom have recently defended their theses. Dr. Tiwari has published 24 journal papers and filed three US patents.
For his outstanding performance and research, Dr. Tiwari has been selected to represent ETH Zurich to the prestigious Global Young Scientist Summit @One-North, an international meeting of bright young researchers, Nobel laureates and eminent scientific leaders in Singapore. He is also a recipient of Dean's Scholar Fellowship (the most prestigious graduate student fellowship in UIC) in 2008-2009 and a gold medal for his academic record from Jadavpur University.
