Antonio Barletta is Professor of Technical Physics at Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna, in Italy. He is a member of Unione Italiana di Termofluidodinamica (UIT). He was elected Outstanding Reviewer of the ASME Journal of Heat Transfer in 1998. He had been Visiting Professor at ETH Zürich, Switzerland, in 2005. Since 2008, he is a member of the Agder Academy of Sciences and Letters in Norway. He organises the PhD projects on heat transfer, acoustics, and nuclear engineering for Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna. His scientific interests include local non-equilibrium diffusion and non-Fourier theories of heat conduction, internal forced convection in channels and ducts, mixed and natural convection. More recently, his research has mainly focused on convection and on flow instability in porous media. He published several papers on the effect of viscous dissipation in clear fluids and porous media, on the thermal instability of fluid saturated porous media with inclined temperature gradients, and on local thermal non-equilibrium flows in porous media.
