Abstract. Most of the electric energy availability in the national generating park, coming from thermal plants that are part of PPT (Priority Thermoelectricity Program), will raise a greater interest in relation to atmospheric emissions caused by these plants. This study intends to compare typical emissions of different thermal generating technologies with emission standards in force in Brazil and in other countries as well. It will also compare per capita automotive emissions and the ones from oil refineries in relation to generating technologies employed by the Brazilian thermoelectricity program.
Keywords. thermoelectric generation, atmospheric emissions, control.
