Abstract. The present work investigated the pollutants dispersion at the atmospheric microscale using different approaches: the CFD and the Gaussian modeling. In the first one, the commercial code Fluent (version 6.0.12) was employed for the solution of the general conservation equations, including the turbulence effects by the k-epsilon model. In the second approach, the main equations adopted in air quality models by the U.S E.P.A. (the North-american Environmental Protection Agency) were implemented for comparison purposes. The results obtained from the two models for the condition of an E stability class (slightly stable) were qualitatively and quantitatively similar.
