Abstract. A numerical study of the turbulence natural convection in square enclosures with large-eddy simulation is considered in this present work. The lateral surfaces are kept isothermal along themselves but with different temperatures for each one. As for the upper and botton surfaces, they are considered to be isolated. The flow is studied by taking into consideration a low Rayleigh number, Ra=1,58x10^9, and then the local Nusselt number is evaluated. The numeric method applied is the finite volumes method together with the SIMPLE method. Three sub-grid models for turbulence are used in this work, which are as following: Smagorinsky’s model, Smagorinsky’s model with a buoyant term, and the model based on the vorticity transfer theory. Finally, some comparisons to theorical and experimental results which are available from the literature, are presented.
