Abstract. This work presents an attenuation model (2D) capable of quantifying radiative heat through vegetative layers. In the model, an heterogeneous distribution of vegetative cover is considered allowing predictions for regions near deforested areas. The amount of direct and diffused radiation, attenuated by the plant coverage, is calculated with a plot of rays methodology. Predictions from the model are in good agreement with experimental data obtained in Reserva Florestal Ducke, near Manaus-AM.
