Abstract. This report describes a mathematical model developed for the purpose of study the dynamic behavior of a condenser for air conditioning equipment. The condenser was divided into a number of control volumes and time dependent differential equations system was obtained from the energy, mass and momentum balance for each control volume. The equations regarding to refrigerant were solved by the fourth order Runge-Kutta method and the equations concerning air and pipe wall were solved by the finite difference method. Two kinds of simulations were done: The first was destined to investigate the influence of the refrigerant mass inventory inside the condenser on the condensation temperature. The second illustrate the fluids temperature response to perturbations on the refrigerant flow rate.
