Abstract. In this work a flow bench for an experimental study of transient flow in an orifice plate flow meter was build. For the experimental study of the dynamic flow, the propagation of a well-known fluctuation flow was related to a pressure fluctuation, allowing the dynamic calibration of the measurement system. Fluctuation flows was generated during a middle flow also well-known, by harmonic movement of a piston. The pressure variation through the orifice was experimentally determined by pressure transducers connected to a dynamic data acquisition system. Transient flow was determined by the instantaneous pressure gradients in the orifice plate and by the width and phase’s fluctuation flow through the orifice plate. Thus, the middle flow measurement errors due the frequency of pulsation allowed to determine the pulsating flow influence on the flow measurement in orifice plates. The experimental flow bench and the data system acquisition allowed to validate numerical methods related with the study of pulsating flows.
