A comparison between Smagorinsky subgrid model and Velocity Structure Function of Second Order model is made using the finite volume method, applied to the flow in transition to the turbulence in backward facing step. The reattachment point as well as the mean velocity profile obtained with the two models are compared to literature and the vorticity field is showed. The developed computational program make use of SOLA method, QUICK convective scheme and, to solve a linear equation system, the Choleski method. Keywords.
