Symposia Topics

03 - Petroleum and Offshore Engineering
Chairman: Celso Puppo Pesce (EPUSP)
Internal Member: Taygoara Felamingo
Offshore and Petroleum Engineering comprises all mechanical sciences and technology related to the petroleum and gas exploration with special focus on the ultra deepwater activities. The oil exploration in Brazil has grown substantially in last three decades, carried by both technological and scientific progress in deepwater exploration. This activity is responsible for a great economic improvement and has a central influence on the macroeconomic in Brazil. Several challenges arise from oil exploration, with special attention to the thermodynamic characterization of reservoirs, heavy oils and emulsion rheology, well technologies, flow assurance, separation, multi-phase flows and other areas that have influence on petroleum production. The symposium was planned to cover a broad range of contributions of interest in the offshore area, following the main topics bellow:

POE01 - Flow Assurance
POE02 - Reservoirs and Well Engineering
POE03 - Characterization and Formation of Emulsions
POE04 - Cable and Risers
POE05 - Pipelines
POE07 - Process, Production and Management
POE08 - Offshore Structures
POE09 - Pumping and Multiphase Flow
