ABSTRACT : THE PRESENT WORK IS RELATED TO THE STRESS ANALYSIS AND THE SHADOW-MOIRÉ FRINGES AND HOLE METHODS TO MEASURE THE RESIDUAL STRESSES IN POLYCRYSTALLINE SHEET MATERIALS UNDER ELASTIC LOADING. THE RESIDUAL STRESSES ARE DECOMPOSED IN SHELL STRESSES AND BENDING OR OUT OF PLANE STRESSES IN ORDER TO BE EVALUATED. THE PROCESSES THAT GENERATES THE INTERNAL RESIDUAL STRESSES IN THE SHEET METAL ARE BRIEFLY DISCUSSED.
THE PRESENT APPROACH IS CONCERNED WITH THE DESCRIPTION OF THE GEOMETRIC DEFECTS AND THE EXPERIMENTAL METHODS FOR THE CALCULATION OF THE RESIDUAL STRESSES IN THE ROTOR AND STATOR PLATES OF AN ELECTRIC MOTOR MADE FROM ELECTRIC STEEL THIN SHEETS OF 0,5MM. THE RESIDUAL STRESSES AFFECTS THE GEOMETRICAL QUALITY OF THE PIECES, CIRCULARITY AND PLANICITY, AND MODIFIES ITS MAGNETISATION PERFORMANCE AND CONSEQUENT ELECTRIC PERFORMANCE OF THE ELECTRIC MOTOR. COMPARISONS OF THE EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS FOR THE MAXIMUM AND MINIMUM RESIDUAL STRESSES AND THE VALUES FOR BENDING AND CIRCULARITY DEFECTS OF THE TESTED PIECES ARE SHOWN.
