DEPENDENCE OF PULLTRUDED FIBERGLASS COMPOSITES TOUGHNESS ON NOTCH ACUITY
Summary :
THE FRACTURE BEHAVIOR OF FIBERGLASS REINFORCED PULTRUDED COMPOSITE WAS STUDIED AS FUNCTION OF THE TIP DIAMETER OF THE STRESS CONCENTRATOR. THE VALUES OF THE STRESS INTENSITY FACTOR AT FRACTURE (KQ) WERE OBTAINED FOR TWO ORIENTATIONS OF THE FIBERS RELATIVE TO THE NOTCH: LONGITUDINAL AND TRANSVERSE. THE RESULTS SHOW THAT THE VALUES OF KQ ARE VERY SENSITIVE TO THE ORIENTATION, AS EXPECTED, BUT INSENSITIVE TO THE DIAMETER OF THE TIP OF THE STRESS CONCENTRATOR, IN THE RANGE OF THE DIAMETERS STUDIED. |
