ABSTRACT. NEW TECHNOLOGIES ARE USED IN THE PROCESS OF KNOWLEDGE ACQUISITION. AMONG THEM IT IS WORTH TO BE MENTIONED: SIMULATORS, SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS, VIRTUAL REALITY, DISTANCE TEACH, INTERNET, MULTIMEDIA AND OTHERS. THOSE TECHNOLOGIES AID THE TEACHER IN THE TRANSMISSION OF THE NECESSARY CONCEPTS TO THE DISCIPLINES, IN AN INTERACTIVE WAY, ALLOWING THE STUDENT A DEVELOPMENT IN ITS OWN LEARNING RHYTHM. THE LEARNING HAPPENS WHEN NEW ABSORBED CONCEPTS BECOME IMPORTANT, WORKING AS A BASE FOR NEW CONCEPTS. FOR SOME (ENGINEERS) THOSE IDEAS ARE NOT APPLIED TO THE ENGINEERING, THEY ARE PEDAGOGIC THEORIES APPLIED BY EDUCATORS. EVEN SO, THAT IS AN ERRONEOUS PERCEPTION, WHICH CREATES BIG PROBLEMS. CONSTRUTIVISM THEORY BRINGS TO THE ACADEMIC ATMOSPHERE A NEW ASPECT TO BE OBSERVED: THE STUDENTS’ FORMATION, THROUGH THE CONSTRUCTION OF THEIR KNOWLEDGE. THUS, A COMPUTER MODULE WAS BUILT TO SUPPORT THE SIMULATION TEACHING, IN THE LABORATORY OF SIMULATION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING OF THE SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING OF SÃO CARLOS - EESC/USP. THE SIMULATION IS USED BY SEVERAL COMPANIES FOR ANALYSIS OF REAL SITUATIONS, IT IS AN APPLIED TOOL TO SEVERAL AREAS OF THE KNOWLEDGE. THIS MODULE WAS DEVELOPED WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF PRESENTING BASIC CONCEPTS OF SIMULATION FOR ENGINEERING STUDENTS AND PROFESSIONALS OF THE MANUFACTURE AREA.
