 Title:
ANALISYS OF TOOL WEAR FOR COATEDS CARBIDES

Summary :
THE CONTINUAL PROGRESS IN THE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIES REQUIRES RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENTS FOR EFFICIENT METAL CUTTING THAT CAN SATISFY THE NEED OF WORK IN THE INDUSTRY. BASED IN THIS NEED, THE WORK DOES THE ANALYSIS BETWEEN THE COATED AND UNCOATED CARBIDE FOR TURNING AUSTENITIC STAINLESS STEEL SAE 316. IN THIS WORK ARE MADE LONG DURATION TURNING TESTS WITH: UNCOATED CARBIDE H1P K10, H1P K10 COATED AT THE PLASMA FACILITIES OF THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF SANTA CATARINA (UFSC) WITH A TIN THIN FILM AND THE COMMERCIAL COATED CARBIDE GC 415 THAT HAS THREE LAYERS. THE RESULTS SHOW THAT THE METAL CUTTING WITH THE COATED CARBIDE AT UFSC HAD PRACTICALLY THE SAME TOOL LIFE FOR A ESTABLISHED WEAR LIFE AS OF THE COMMERCIAL COATED CARBIDE. KEYS WORDS: CARBIDE; TURNING, COATED
