ABSTRACT: THIS WORK PRESENTS A NUMERIC-EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS OF THE VELOCITY AND TEMPERATURE FIELDS INSIDE A RESERVOIR UNDER MIXED CONVECTION CONDITIONS. THE NUMERICAL ANALYSIS IS PERFORMED WITH A TWO-DIMENSION TRANSIENT MODEL, WITH CYLINDRICAL COORDINATES AND FINITE VOLUMES METHOD. THE LAUNDER & SHARMA (1974) TURBULENCE MODEL FOR LOW REYNOLDS NUMBERS IS EMPLOYED. POLYNOMIALS PRESCRIBING BOTH THE WATER INLET AND AMBIENT TEMPERATURE ARE USED AS BOUNDARY CONDITIONS. THESE POLYNOMIALS ARE DERIVED FROM EXPERIMENTAL TESTS. NUMERICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL SIMULATIONS WERE SHOWN TO HAVE A GOOD AGREEMENT.
