VEHICLE PROTOTYPE USING SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNETIC LEVITATION
ABSTRACT. APPLICATION OF SUPERCONDUCTIVITY IS A PROMISING AND INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY IN THE MAGNETIC LEVITATION PROCESSES ASSOCIATED TO TRANSPORTATION MEANS. USING HIGH TC SUPERCONDUCTOR BLOCKS, LEVITATION EFFECT IS ACHIEVED THROUGH THE REPULSION BY PARTIAL EXCLUSION OF MAGNETIC FLUX BETWEEN A SUPERCONDUCTOR AND A PERMANENT MAGNET, GENERATING A STABLE SUSPENSION IN VERTICAL AND LATERAL DIRECTIONS. THE CONSTRUCTION OF A RAIL-VEHICLE PROTOTYPE IS PROPOSED, USING SINCRONOUS LINEAR MOTOR AND RAIL OF ROOF-SHAPED TRANSVERSE SECTION, WHICH ALLOWS TESTING CURVES AND GRADIENTS UP TO 10%. NUMERICAL RESULTS OF MAGNETIC FIELD DISTRIBUTION RELATED WITH THE RAIL SECTION SHAPE ARE SHOWED.
