Summary :

ABSTRACT. THE GAS TURBULENT SWIRLING FLOW IN CYCLONES PRESENTS A COMPLEX FLUID-DYNAMIC BEHAVIOR WITH PHENOMENA SUCH AS HIGH VORTEX PRESERVATION, REVERSION FLOW, RECIRCULATION ZONES, ANISOTROPIC BEHAVIOR OF THE REYNOLDS STRESS AND HIGH SENSIBILITY FOR THE INLET EFFECTS. IN THIS WORK WE PRESENT A 3-D FLOW MODELLING AND THE NUMERICAL SOLUTIONS OBTAINED BY THE FINITE-VOLUME METHODS WITH BODY FITTED FOR THE GRID GENERATION. ALL NUMERICAL RESULTS ARE OBTAINED USING THE CFX-F3D COMPUTATIONAL FLUID-DYNAMICS CODE. THE EFFECTS ANALYSIS OF THE INLET AND OUTLET DEVICES AND DUST COLLECTION SYSTEM ARE OBSERVED BY THE SCIENTIFIC VISUALIZATION OF THE FLOWS. THE K-"E" TURBULENCE MODEL AND THE DIFFERENTIAL STRESS MODEL ARE COMPARED. BOTH MODELS SHOW A SATISFACTORY CAPABILITY OF PREDICTING THE FLUID DYNAMICS BEHAVIOR FOR CHANGES IN THE GEOMETRICAL CONDITIONS.
